Steve's D25
HI Dom
Thanks for your welcome.
I am English having moved to live in France 6 years ago. My interest in plant and machinery stems from helping out on farms as a boy and eventually owning my own plant hire company which I ran for 22 years immediately before coming to Normandy.
The engine in my tractor is the F2L712 Type S1 No 3198167/68..........................I hope this allows you to date it more accurately.
More pictures from when I first bought my tractor follow beneath[img][/img]
The next batch of photos will show the tractor in preparation for painting......................to follow!
Cheers

Hi Steve,
First of all, I allowed myself to split your topic in two parts. The first one in PRESENTATION and the second in VOS PHOTOS. If you wish, you could change the titles of them using the edit function.
You have a nice tractor. We can clearly observe the differnce between before and after yet. Nice work.
We are very exited to see the next photos.
Could you tell us where you buy your spare parts?
Concerning your tractor's year of production, it could more likely be 1962 (second half) seeing you have the new dashboard under the steering wheel. To be confirmed.

Hi Dom
Sorry, I will try to put everything in it's correct category from now........................I became a little over-excited when I discovered this wonderful site.
In answer to your question, I have recently purchased items from:
N. Peterson Landtechnik
Oldtimer-Teile-Handel Rene Kupper
Traktorenteile Segger.
Thank you for the possible date of production as being second half of 1962.

Re: Steve's D25
Hi All
As promised, here are the pictures of my tractor, 100% complete taken this morning.
The green paint was colour matched to the original by a local vehicle respraying company and supplied in Sikkens two pack which was sprayed on top of a Sikkens two pack primer using a cheap low pressure spray gun (Parkside PDFP 500A1) bought from Lidl and my own domestic standard compressor. The spraying was carried out by a friend with previous vehicle spraying experience. As it was sprayed outside, I flattened all the paintwork down afterwards with 1200 grade 'wet & dry' and used G3 compound to bring the shine back followed by a wax polish.
The wheels are a couple of shades away from the original colour.............I brush painted them with one coat of primer followed by two coats of finish......all
bought locally from Bricomarche
The number plates were bought from http://www.motoshowplates.com.

Hi Steve,
Thanks a lot for all these new pictures of your D25. It is really very, very nice with its new clothes. Your spraying an final flattening technique, plus wax gives a very good result.
Is your tractor going to work a little (pulling trailer, mowing,....) or take part in shows?

Re: Steve's D25
Hi Dom,
Thanks for your kind remarks.
I don't use the attached mower ( it does work) as all my garden is set to lawn and I have a Honda ride-on which takes care of that!
I would love to show it locally but I have a problem in that I bought it naively without a Carte Gris when I first moved to France so I am unable to insure it for road use. I can only drive it to the shows as I don't have a trailer. I have a bowser also which I could use to bring water to the garden from a local free supply in the village if I could insure it.
Does anyone know how to obtain a Carte Gris when one has not been supplied at the point of sale ?
Steve

Re: Steve's D25
Hi,
There is two means to obtain a "carte grise", called now "certificat d'immatriculation"
The first one is to contact the former owner of the tractor in order to obtain a duplicate of the lost carte grise at his name, then repeat the operation to have the paper at your name.
The second one is throught the FFVE (Fédération Française des Véhicules d’Époque)
See all details at the following address:

Re: Steve's D25
Hi Dom
Thanks for your advice but my problem is that I don't know who's name my tractor is originally registered in as I believe the tractor has been sold as included with the sale of a manor house for the last few owners.......................so the more recent owners of the manor didn't bother to change the name of the owner as , I asume, it was intended purely for use on the land of the manor. I do however know the registration number as it was painted on the tractor before I re-sprayed it. I have been to the Prefecture in Caen but they were not very helpful.
Regards
Steve

I am hoping to move to a new country soon so unfortunately I won't be able to take my beloved tractor with me. It is with regret that I must now offer it for sale at around 2500 euros. It has no registration documents. Anyone interested may contact me on 0033231205089 but remember I am English and only speak a little French or email me on stephen.wharton@wanadoo.fr where I can ask my computer to translate for me.

Salut Bruno,
